Viruses

HSC Information Technology Services (ITS) provides enterprise anti-virus Security for Windows-based and Mac OS computers. For HS Domain connected Windows based computers connected to the server, your PC will automatically update as new definitions are available. Mac users will be assisted with enterprise anti-virus installation and maintenance.

For Windows and Mac computers located outside the HSC buildings (non-connected HS Domain computers), the enterprise anti-virus has  a web portal for downloading. The consumer version is available for students, off-site offices not connected to the HSC network, and for home use on up to 3 devices if you need a current anti-virus solution for your home computer. Spyware

Spyware is a fairly new kind of threat that many antivirus applications do not identify. If there are new toolbars in your browser that you did not intentionally install, if your browser crashes, or if your browser's start page has changed without your knowing, you most likely have spyware.

Even if there doesn't seem to be any problems or differences, you may still be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging that is silently tracking your surfing behavior to create a marketing profile of you. This profile might then be sold to advertisement companies
